Brianna Kovan is a features editor at Bustle, where she commissions and edits stories about entertainment, politics, and cultural trends, as well as the occasional celebrity profile. She’s interested in, very vaguely, the way that we live and think now, and the people spearheading those lifestyle and thought movements. She also works on packages (read: So You Want To Quit Your Job) and larger editorial projects (read: Bustle's no-nonsense guide to reproductive rights in 2023). She contributed to the 2021 package How To Move To The Suburbs, which won a Front Page Award from The Newswomen’s Club Of New York.
Before joining Bustle, she was the culture editor at ELLE magazine, where she oversaw the magazine’s books coverage, wrote the monthly travel pages, and interviewed a hodgepodge of actors and cultural figures. During her time there, the magazine was nominated for a 2017 ASME Award for General Excellence in the Service and Lifestyle category. She’s also written for Ms., Kinfolk, Bitch, and Boat magazines, and copy-edited for various publications and companies. She graduated from the Columbia Publishing Course and the University of Michigan, where she studied English and Women’s Studies.
